Abstract
A PBS NewsHour and Scientific American feature story about a study on ozone levels in popular national parks includes insights from Saint Mary’s Professor Joel Burley. A professor in the chemistry department of the School of Science, Burley's academic research includes measuring air pollution levels in California's national parks, in particular, Yosemite National Park. While not involved in the new study, Burley offered a perspective on it and the criteria needed to determine if ozone level increases in national parks influence the travel decisions of park-goers. Read the article ” Popular National Parks experience as much ozone pollution as major cities. ”
