5 reasons Trump's Venezuela embargo won't end the Maduro regime

In a commentary featured in Business Insider and distributed by The Conversation news outlet, Saint Mary's Professor of Global Business Marco Aponte-Moreno questions the effectiveness of new White House sanctions against the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Aponte-Moreno writes that although the August 5 sanctions by the Trump administration targets companies or individuals outside of Venezuela doing business with Maduro's government, there are numerous reasons why the sanctions won’t work, including the fact that embargos “are a foreign-policy tool meant to pressure rogue governments into changing their ways by cutting off their cash flow.
