About

Dr. Zahra Ahmed (she, her) is a scholar-activist who has worked in higher education and other community-based educational spaces for over 20 years.  She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Politics at Saint Mary's College of California, specializing in community building, contemplative justice and critical community engagement.  Dr. Ahmed earned her Masters degree in Social Work from Georgia State University with a focus on community partnerships and her PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine with a focus on civic and community engagement.  She is also a proud undergraduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
