Dr. Julie Ford
Director, Glee Club and Chamber Singers

Dr. Julie Ford is a classical and jazz conductor, vocalist, and educator in the San Francisco Bay Area. As an Associate Professor of Music at Saint Mary’s College of California, she directs the Chamber Singers, Glee Club, and Jazz Choir, and teaches lyric diction, sight-singing, piano, and conducting. The SMC Glee and Chamber Singers received Gold Medals at the 2014 World Choir Games. As Director of Liturgical Music at St. Mary’s, Dr. Ford directs music for masses and ecumenical services. She also sings professionally in Moodswing, a vocal jazz quartet (2005 Champions of the San Francisco Harmony Sweepstakes). From 2002-2013, she served as Director of Worship and Music at Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church leading worship as vocalist and pianist, directing choirs, and conducting choral-orchestral works biannually; the LOPC Chamber Singers performed at the 2009 ACDA National Convention. Dr. Ford served two terms as Repertoire & Standards Chair of Music in Worship (CA-ACDA) and guest conducts, leads workshops, and adjudicates throughout northern and central California. She holds degrees from San José State University (Bachelors-Voice), The Eastman School of Music (Masters-Conducting) and the University of Oklahoma (Doctorate-Choral Conducting), and is indebted to her primary conducting teachers: Perla Warren, Charlene Archibeque, Donald Neuen, and Dennis Shrock.
